Why Donate to Jay Stone’s Campaign?

Good government and civil rights always comes at a price. Whether it be soldiers sacrificing themselves on the battlefield or honest politicians like Jay Stone taking on the Chicago political machine, freedom has a price. Stone will use campaign contributions from people like you to maintain a campaign office, print petitions, mail literature to voters, and run radio and TV ads to alert the public to corruption in city government and persuade voters that  it’s time for a political change.

Many Chicago voters already know what kind of mayor and person Richard M. Daley is. Your campaign contributions will help publicize Stone’s good government ideas. Stone will not pay back your campaign contribution with a city job or contract. But once in office, Stone will work to change the system that has left you paying more taxes, fines, and fees.

Former Governor Rod Blagojevich and Mayor Daley are notorious for their use of “pay to play.” Campaign contributors to Blagojevich or Daley’s campaign expect—and get––something in return for their donations. Stone is dead set against pay to play. He will do what’s right for the people of Chicago, not what is right for his campaign funds.

Illinois’ new statewide campaign contributions limit goes into effect on January 1, 2011. Stone was the one who proposed the contribution limit at an Illinois Reform Commission meeting (March 5, 2010). Stone will impose the Illinois campaign contributions limit on himself before the new law goes into effect.

Stone will not take a contribution over $5,000.00 from an individual or a contribution over $10,000.00 from a business. Since Stone is calling for a ban on campaign contributions from companies doing business with the city, he will not take a contribution from anyone or any company that has business or plans to do business with the city.

Stone has long maintained that people should contribute to a political candidate for the same reasons they donate to a church, synagogue, or nonprofit company. Contribute to Stone’s campaign because you share his beliefs in clean city government and the political reforms necessary to accomplish that goal. Contribute not because you think Stone is another one of those pay to play politicians.

Contribute to Stone because in your heart you know political reform in Chicago is of vital importance and long overdue. Jay Stone will make Chicago a better place to live by getting rid of a corrupt political system and those who run it.

Please contribute now.

We thank you for your consideration and contribution.
