Where are Chicago Candidates’ Sample Petitions

Today, August 24 is supposed to be the first day Chicago candidates can circulate petitions, but the Illinois and Chicago Board of Elections have failed to supply candidates with sample petitions. The failure to supply sample petitions is another example of the Chicago political machine using dirty tricks to thwart democracy and win elections.

The city and state’s onerous ballot laws stop potential candidates from running, or if potential candidates submit their petitions, the candidates are challenged off the ballot based on some onerous election law. Other cities and states hold seminars to prepare candidates to run for public office, but not Chicago or IL. Our politicians exploit the inexperience of political newcomers to eliminate them as political competitors.
